Volunteers Brighten Up Dublin!

International Volunteer Day takes place annually on 5th December. The day has been in existence since 1985 when the UN marked it to thank volunteers worldwide for their contributions to society.

This was the third year Dublin City South Volunteer Centre celebrated the Day. This year we hosted over 150 volunteers from 23 organisations in Dublin City Council’s Wood Quay venue. Volunteers enjoyed a wine and canapé reception, received a complimentary goodie bag and had a professional photographer take a picture of their group. The highlight of the evening was our unique 30-foot light display of the IVD logo, which was projected onto the outside wall of the Civic Offices building so that all of Dublin could see how volunteers brighten up Dublin!
